Now that's SMOOTH

It was a great choice to re-record all the guitars. The stereo micing technique that I used created a wonderful sound!

I spent the day re-doing all the acoustic guitar tracks, and the next doing the various electric guitar parts. Giving my fingers a break I also through in some extra percussion and cymbal swells.

After sitting back and listening to what I had thus far, I realized that the overall sound of the recording was SMOOTH. I don't know a better word for it. This was my first serious test of recording at a higher bit rate and sample rate. 24 bits creates a very noticeable difference in the overall sound quality. I am sure I will never go back to 16 bits after hearing the difference. Now I will have to upgrade my computer to keep up!

I am starting to think about vocal arrangements, now that most of the instrumental work is done. This song could use a BIG backing vocal sound bordering on something choral. The lyrics shift from being "I" centered to "We" centered near the end of the song - a perfect spot to bring in a group of voice.
